NDC House of Reps Race: Ojietu Steps Down, Backs Bawa for Etsako Federal Constituency Ticket

ETSAKO WEST – The bid of Hon. Bawa Mohammed Qaleeph to represent Etsako Federal Constituency under the Nigeria Democratic Congress, NDC, has gained momentum after fellow aspirant Dr. Benjamin Aigbokhai Ojietu announced his withdrawal from the race to support him.

Ojietu, from the Uzairue axis and former vice chairman of Etsako West LGA, made the announcement on his Facebook page.

He said the decision followed consultations with leaders, elders, stakeholders, and residents of Etsako who urged unity and cooperation ahead of the elections.

“Having had fruitful discussions with Hon. Bawa, whose vision, commitment, and passion for the advancement of Etsako align with our shared aspirations, I am convinced that he possesses the capacity and dedication to bring our collective dreams to fruition,” Ojietu stated.

He added that after consultations with family, political associates, and supporters, he chose to withdraw “in the spirit of unity, maturity, and progress” and to fully back Bawa’s candidacy under the NDC.

Ojietu stressed that the decision was voluntary and not influenced by any inducement, saying it was taken “out of wisdom, statesmanship, and genuine love for the future of our people.”

He urged his supporters, coordinators, youths, women, elders, and traditional rulers across Etsako Federal Constituency to extend the same solidarity and support to Bawa.

Bawa, from Auchi, recently resigned from the APC and defected to the NDC to pursue his ambition of contesting the House of Representatives seat for Etsako Federal Constituency.
