The All Progressives Congress, APC, National Assembly Primary Committee has announced the results of the House of Representatives primaries held across Edo State to select candidates for the 2027 National Assembly elections.

‎Announcing the results, committee chairman Hon. Mohammed Kabiru Ajana settled the dispute in Owan Federal Constituency, where incumbent member and House Majority Leader, Prof. Julius Ihonvbere, and Andrew Ijegbai had paraded conflicting claims of victory.

‎According to Ajana, Ihonvbere scored 1,005 votes against Ijegbai’s 3,695 votes. Abdul Oroh came second with 1,740 votes.

‎The outcome ends Ihonvbere’s bid for a third term, a move that had drawn criticism for allegedly violating the zoning arrangement in Owan land.

‎In Etsako Federal Constituency, incumbent Sunday Anamero Dekeri was declared winner with 8,109 votes.

‎For Akoko Edo Federal Constituency, Otunba Bamidele Bankole-Balogun emerged victorious with 3,368 votes. His win brings an end to the 16-year dominance of Peter Akpatason in the House of Representatives.

‎The primaries are part of APC’s process to field candidates ahead of the National Assembly elections scheduled for January 2027.
