The former vice chairman of the Edo State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Chief Francis Inegbeneki, has made it clear that his decision to resign from the party is final and cannot be reversed.

He reiterated this while addressing a press conference at the NUJ Secretariat in Benin, the Edo State capital where he debunked the rumour of staging a come back to the party.

The Esan High Chief further stated that he has formally tendered his resignation to his Ward Chairman in Opoji, Ward 9, in Edo central district and intends to take a break from partisan politics before deciding on his next steps.

He mentioned receiving pressure from his constituents and APC leaders to reverse his decision but emphasized that he stands firm, as he believes his decision is in the best interest of the state.

He further affirmed that his resignation may signal an upcoming wave of defections from the APC in the state, as there are indications of discontent within the party ranks.

It is anticipated that prominent APC leaders may leave the party shortly.

Chief Inegbeneki cited interest of the state as a major factor in his decision to resign,.
