The two major clan in Etsako west LGA, Auchi and Uzairue lost the bid to contest for the chairmanship of Etsako west LGA on the platform of Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, over the loss of their community votes to the opposition party during the last Edo state House of Assembly election.

A similar condition also applies to the councilorship aspirants who are expected to have won their respective units for the PDP during the election.

The PDP leadership in the state had in a meeting attended by the state governor, Mr Godwin Obaseki and other leaders of the party in the state, gave a condition that any chairmanship aspirants whose community voted for the opposition will be denied the chairmanship ticket.

The PDP conditions knocked out the two major clans in the local government, Auchi and Uzairue with four wards each from aspiring for the party chairmanship ticket to chair the LGA.

Auchi and Uzairue are two strong holds of the All Progressive Congress APC in Etsako west LGA. The party led by the Edo state former governor comrade Adams oshiomole who is also from Etsako West won the presidential and National Assembly elections.

The condition gave the chairmanship candidate from Anwain clan, Marvelous Zibiri the leeway to emerge as an oppose PDP chairmanship candidate for the local government.

The PDP won the votes from the Anwain community which is one ward of the local government during the house of Assembly election but their votes is not good enough to make the PDP win the House of Assembly election.

The PDP felt the condition of aspirants winning their wards as a reward for loyalty and also to encourage others.

Some of the aggrieved chairmanship candidates said the criteria should also be used during governorship election for 2024.
