The Edo State Governor, Mr. Godwin Obaseki, has assigned a portfolio to the newly appointed commissioners recently inaugurated as members of the State Executive Council .
.
One of the striking features of the newly constituted Exco is the decision to retain the commissioner of Business, Trade, and Cooperatives portfolio in the Owan East axis.

In a statement issued by the Office of the Secretary to the State Government, SSG, and signed by Osarodion Ogie Esq, the governor was said to have given his consent to the assignment of portfolios to the commissioners most of whom are also members of the reconstituted State Executive Council

The Owan East newcomer in the cabinet, Mr. Patrick Uanseru, inherited the Business, Trade, and Cooperatives portfolio earlier vacated by his fellow Owan kinswoman, Hon. Afie Braimoh.

Governor Obaseki unceremoniously dissolved the state cabinet on May 3rd 2023.

Hon. Braimoh was one of the star performers in the dissolved cabinet.

The expectations that she would be retained were rife until the list of commissioner designates was released and her name was conspicuously missing from the lot

The American-trained graduate of project management enjoyed a good public rating as a result of her superlative performance in the promotion of the local MSMEs as well as the “Made in Edo” policy of the state government, both of which gained national and international acclaim under her watch.

All eyes will certainly be on her replacement, Mr. Uanseru for the continuation of the Hon. Braimoh’s legacy.

The press statement by the SSG also listed the names and the assigned portfolios of the commissioners.

The list contained the following commissioners Osaretin Christopher Nehikhare, Communication, and Orientation; Dr. Joan Osa-Oviawe, Education; Isoken Omo, Housing, Urban and Regional Planning and Development; and, Stephen Ehikioya Idehenre, Food Security
