Longest Reading Aloud Marathon: Edo born lady, Oseriemen set to break Guinness world record

Edo State Government on Tuesday announced that it is proud to be part of history making, as a 27 years old Edo born Asein Angel Patience Oseriemen is set to break the Guinness World Record as she attempts the longest Reading Aloud Marathon (Read-A-Thon) in the state and Nigeria.

Edo State Commissioner for Information and Orientation, Mr. Chris Nehikhare disclosed this to newsmen, during a press briefing saying the 500 level Fisheries student from Lagos State University (LASU), Asein Angel Patience Oseriemen is set to promote the arts and culture of Edo State and Nigeria as a whole in the 200 hours (Read-A-Thon).

“This historic event will take place at the Library Complex of the Edo State Secretariat Building, located at Sapele Road in Benin City, from the 23rd of February to the 3rd of March 2024.

“The primary objective of this marathon is to showcase the rich culture and traditions of Edo State and Nigeria. “

Also speaking, Asein Angel Patience Oseriemen, who hails from Owan West Local Government Council of the Edo State said she is filled with immense pride and excitement to be part of history as he attempts the Guinness World Record for the longest read-Aloud Marathon.

“I am here to promote the arts and culture of Edo State and Nigerians as a whole, while also encouraging a reading culture among the younger generation.

“By engaging in this record-breaking feat, I hope to ignite a passion for reading among the younger members of our society, empowering them with knowledge and expanding their horizons.

“Furthermore, this marathon serves as as a clarion call to the younger generation to embrace the habit of reading.In an era dominated by technology and digital distractions, it is crucial that we instill a love for books and literature in our youth. ” Asein said.
