The Edo State chapter of the All Progressives Congress, APC, continues to keep mum over the appointment of Mr. John Mayaki as the chairman of the Media and Publicity Committee of the party’s Presidential Campaign Council
The top hierarchy of the party in the state has so far refused to either confirm or deny the story which has made the media rounds. Instead, they have maintained studied silence on the appointment, claiming ignorance of the matter.
An unsigned and undated story surfaced on social media on the appointment of Mr. Mayaki as the chairman of the Media and Publicity Committee of the PCC.
Both the state APC chairman and members of the State Working Committee, SWC, bluntly refused to respond to questions on the appointment .
. One after the other, they parried the questions, refusing to confirm or deny their authenticity.
Unconfirmed sources within the party, however, said there has not been any official communication as regards the appointment of Mr. Mayaki as the spokesperson of the PCC in the state, adding the stories making the rounds in social media are speculative.
The insider stressed that appointments of such a nature often originate from the national secretariat of the party and are cascaded to the other levels, adding none of such happened in this case.
Mayaki served as the Director of Communication and Media of the Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu Campaign Organization (2020).Before then, he served as the Executive Director of Media and Strategy in the Oshiomhole-administration and as Chief Press Secretary to Governor Godwin Obaseki.
