Edo 2024: Edo south APC women, Youths assure Omoregie Igiehon of support

The governorship ambition of Engr. Omoregie Igiehon to fly the flag of All Progressives Congress (APC) in the Edo 2024 Gubernatorial contest received a massive boost as the APC Women and youths wing in the seven Local Government Areas that make up the Edo South senatorial district vowed to support him.

Led by their indefatigable leader, Hon. Itohan Osahon Edokpolor, the women, in their hundreds and drawn across the seven local government areas of the district, gathered to show solidarity and support to Engr. Igiehon in his bid to govern Edo State in the next dispensation.

The unusual event attracted women from the district and also showcased the growing acceptability of the aspirant.

It was very conspicuous at the open declaration of support, the women’s groups were vehement in their endorsement of Engr. Igiehon.

They took over every inch of the available space at the venue singing and dancing songs of solidarity and support.

Represented by one of his aides ,Eghomwanre Igiehon Marshall
who reeled out the candidate’s rich profile, drawing rousing applause in the process, described Engr. Igiehon as a core party man who will stick with tradition and also translate the party’s manifesto in a way that would favour the suffering Edo people .

He also urged the women to be steadfast in their support for Engr. Igiehon, insisting that he is the most qualified and competent among the array of those who have so far declared for the coveted seat.

Engr. Igiehon, a qualified Engineer with over 25 years of solid practice in the industry hails from the Oredo local government area of the state.

Osahon in her remark, reaffirmed the stance of the party hierarchy in the state not to zone its governorship ticket, asserting further that the APC in Edo State is ready to support any candidate who is tested and trusted and also capable of wrestling power back from the ruling PDP.

According to Tony Kabaka Adun who spoke for the youths said “we pray Engr. Omoregie Igiehon succeeds and wins the primaries. “Whoever succeeds and wins will be our Governor and must respect the traditional institution, empower our youths and our mothers.”

In a chat with journalists, a spokesperson for the Igiehon Support Group, Eghomwanre Igiehon Marshall
hinted that the plan to woo the women is intentional, adding that they constitute the majority of the voting public and as such cannot be relegated to the background.

He added further that the endorsement by the women followed an earlier one by their counterparts, stressing that Edo South is rooting for Engr. Igiehon.
