Edo 2024: Aruna Braimoh Gets labour Party nod to run on party platform


The number of aspirants hoping to fly the Labour Party flag at the Edo state Governorship election scheduled for September 21, 2024 got a further boost with the formally recognition accorded Dr Aruna Braimoh to run on the party platform .

Dr Braimoh who hails from Edo north senatorial district of the state along with the hordes of supporters gaily dressed in party souvenir took over all the available space at the party secretariat in Benin on Thursday.

The gubernatorial aspirant is an Harvard University trained finance guru and also an alumni of the prestigious Lagos Business School (LBS) .

As it stands now, the Labour Party in Edo State parades the majority of aspirants to take over from the incumbent governor, Godwin Obaseki whose tenure expires on November 12, 2024.

Haruna in his remarks said his visit to the Labour Party Secretariat, was historic having got the nod from the leadership of the party to go ahead with his intention to contest the governorship primary by February, 2024.

“It is my joy to visit the labour party Secretariat today. I have received the nod to contest the Governorship election. I thanked the exco, members of the party and my supporters”.

The Labour Party aspirant, said Edo people will be his first priority as he embarked on the electioneering journey, adding that without the people you cannot lead.

Earlier in his remarks, the state chairman of Labour Party, Comrade Kelly Ogbaloi said Haruna’s visit is a sign of readiness to contest the Governorship election.

Ogbaloi added that the party has given him the go ahead to join the other aspirants of the party to contest the Governorship election.
