EdHA: Member of 2019 Night inauguration, Okaka Emerges Minority leader

A member of the famous Edo State House of Assembly-14, Hon Eric Okaka was yesterday announced as the minority leader of the House.

The 14-members were referred to as non inaugurated members due to being denied inauguration as members of the 7th assembly.

The new minority leader who was elected on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC), suffered the humiliation of being subjected to inaugurated at night against his will in an undignified and unparliamentary outfit due to political intrigues orchestrated allegedly by the Edo state government.

Hon Okaka is representing Owan East constituency at the house.

In a similar vein the. member representing Orhionmwon East, Hon Osamwonyi Atu was announced the Minority whip position.

The two members representing Owan constituency of East and West at the Edo assembly Hon blessings Agbebaku and Eric Okaka are now saddle with the responsibility of presiding over the house as Speaker while the other as opposition as a minority leader.

The Speaker, Rt. Hon. Blessing Agbebaku who announced the positions of the members had said during the last plenary that the House received letters from PDP, APC, and LP for the composition of the membership of the Principal Officers Council.

Similarly, the speaker also announced the constitution of House Standing Committees and he is to head the House Standing Committee on Selection.

According to him, the Deputy Speaker Hon. Maria Edekor will head Committee on Tenders Board, the majority leader, Hon. Charity Aiguobarueahian will chair Committee on Rules, Business and Government House.

The house also announced Committee on Finance, Economic Planning and Development to be headed by the Chief Whip, Hon. Prince Yekini Idaiye.

Each member of the 24-member assembly has a committee to chair
