The election is scheduled to hold in September, 2023

Obaseki disclosed this in an interview with journalists after a closed-door meeting at the PDP Secretariat, Benin City.

The party’s meeting which was made of the governor loyalist is the first after the woeful outing of the party in the last presidential and National Assembly elections where it secured one house of representatives seat with the party presidential candidate, Alhaji Abubakar Atiku coming third in the presidential election.

“This is a State Executive Committee meeting which is the highest policy-making body of PDP in the State. Ahead of the Local Government election, after the last set of elections. We are reorganizing and recalibrating the party and it’s going to be ready to win any election in the state.

“This meeting is to bring everybody on board to make sure that all members, particularly leaders of the party, feel a sense of inclusion and participation. The meeting is to carry everybody along as we move to the next stage of the political activities in the state.

“The crack in the party has been healed and mended and clearly there might be some people who have fundamental differences with the mainstream of the party. It will not stop the party as it will continue to grow and wax stronger and dominate the state.
