BENIN CITY – A repeat of the disputed senatorial primaries in Edo South played out in Etsako Central LGA, Edo North, where incumbent House of Assembly member Waziri Oshomah and challenger Mathias Igekhie Aliu are both claiming victory in the APC primaries.
The two aspirants were announced as winners at separate venues. Oshomah said he emerged winner with the total votes of 3,304 votes announced by returning officer Kazzem Otono. Aliu, on the other hand, claimed he won with 2,665 votes against Oshomah’s 738 votes.
Supporters of both contestants say they are awaiting the final result from the APC national headquarters.
The other aspirants in the race, Emmanuel Momoh and Kenneth Eshemomoh, had earlier withdrawn and declared support for a consensus arrangement.
Other Edo North Results
In Etsako East LGA, incumbent member Hon. Ugabi Kinsley lost his bid for a return to the House to newcomer Aminu Imafidon.
In the Owan axis, both incumbent members scaled through. Speaker of the Edo State House of Assembly, Agbebaku Blessing, and Eric Okaka secured the APC tickets to contest their seats again.
In Akoko Edo, Donald Okogbe clinched the APC ticket. Newcomer Adewumi Humprey Teddy replaced Yekini Idiaye, who declined to contest.
