ADC Conducts Primaries in Edo State, Picks Candidates Ahead of 2027 Elections
BENIN CITY – The African Democratic Congress, ADC, has concluded its party primaries across Edo State to elect candidates for various elective offices ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The exercise, conducted through direct primaries, produced several candidates via consensus. The process drew party faithfuls and officials from both Edo State and Abuja.
In Edo North Senatorial District, party leaders and supporters gathered in Auchi, the administrative headquarters of the district, for the final collation and announcement of results.
Prince Musa Braimoh emerged as the ADC senatorial candidate for Edo North through a consensus arrangement. Braimoh, who hails from Iyorah in the Uzairue clan, Etsako West LGA, said the process was smooth and the turnout overwhelming.
“The process of the ADC primaries went smoothly, and the turnout was overwhelming. This is an attestation that the election between myself and the incumbent senator will be too close to call,” he said.
A seasoned politician, Braimoh said he understands the strengths and weaknesses of his opponent and intends to leverage them in the forthcoming election.
Other candidates elected at the primaries include nominees for the House of Representatives and the Edo State House of Assembly.

- Hon. Shedrick Uduigba – Owan Federal Constituency
- Hon. Ateri Nelson – Akoko Edo Federal Constituency
Edo State House of Assembly Candidates:
- Nasamu Abdulrasheed – Etsako West Constituency II
- Hon. Steve Ahmed Sani – Etsako East
- Hon. Stephen Imonikhe – Owan East
- Engr. Jolly Isakpehi – Owan West
- Hon. Paul Lawani – Akoko Edo Constituency I
- Barr. Izuagie Salametu – Etsako West Constituency I
- Hon. Lawrence Anetekhai – Etsako Central
The ADC in Edo North is led by Senator Yisa Braimoh. Nationally, the party operates as a coalition chaired by Senator David Mark, with Alhaji Atiku Abubakar listed among its presidential aspirants.
