Ogbemudia replaces Ugbodaga as CMD of Orthopedic Hospital, ?

The atmosphere of confusion over who is the chief medical director of the newly established Orthopedic Hospital in Edo state is yet to abate with Prof Alfred Ogbemudia performing the role of an acting medical director of the hospital.

The hospital is sited in Benin City, the Edo state capital.

The federal government had through the office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation Republic of Nigeria (SGF) in a letter dated August 2023 to the Permanent Secretary, Federal Ministry of Health confirmed the appointment of Dr Ugbodaga as the chief medical director of the newly established orthopedic hospital in Edo state.

Since the announcement it was learnt that Dr Ugbodaga appointment was not backed up with a letter of appointment, hence could not resume office.

Recently, the Acting Medical Director of the hospital, Prof. Alfred Ogbemudia was at the Palace of Enogie of Eyean, HRH Dr. Osazuwa Aiwerioghene Iduriase, who is the traditional head of the community to formally informed him that the hospital will be sited in his domain.

Ogbemudia, assured that the healthcare facility would begin its maiden clinics operations in December at Eyean Primary HealthCare Centre in Uhunwonde Local Government Council Area of the state.

Recall, that Dr Ugbodaga and Prof Alfred Ogbemudia were both presented letters of appointment as the medical director of the newly established hospital in the state by the then minister of health and the minister of state for health respectively.

While Dr. Philip Ugbodaga received his letter from Joseph Ekamanamam, the then minister of State for Health, Prof Alfred Ogbemudia received his from Dr Osagie Ehanire,the then minister of Health.
