The Enogie (Traditional Head) of Eyaen Dukedom,HRH, Osazuwa Aiwerioghene Iduriase (JP) has tasked journalists on the need to embrace professionalism in the discharge of their duty.
Iduriase gave the advice when members of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Edo State Council, led by the duo of Deacon Ralph Okhiria and Sir. Roland Osakwe, former chairmen of the State Council, joined by CEO BeeTv, Best Mbiere paid him a courtesy visit in his palace to seek his royal blessings among others for the media practitioners.
The monarch who expressed worry over unregulated social media reports cautioned journalists to always verify their stories before going to press adding that the rush to be the first to break the news can sometimes be detrimental to both the medium and the reporter.
He, however, expressed support for the media particularly among the State council, where he is a patron, just as the royal father urged all journalists to maintain the ethics of the pen profession stressing on the need to at all times ensure balance, fairness and objectivity in news reportage.
The media practitioners hailed the Duke for the peaceful co-existence in his community and his unalloyed support for the media and his subjects in the state, assuring of mutual cooperation with the traditional institution.
