The rank of aspirants hoping to govern Edo state on the Labour Party platform got swollen over the weekend with the declaration of interest by Mr. Kingsley Uaifo Ulinfun
The well attended declaration of interest ceremony which was tagged Equity 2024 took place at the Bishop Kelly Pastoral Centre Benin
The well noted banker who spoke before supporters and journalists unveiled his blueprint which involves empowering of two thousand – five hundred (2,500) youths with five million naira grants each to bring to reality their entrepreneurial dreams as to make them creators of at least 50,000 jobs.
Sixty (60%) percent of such beneficiaries he said would be women to fasten the developmental drive of the state.
This empowerment process, he posited, would be replicated every year, for the next four (4) years if voted into office to trickle development to the grassroots..
Voicing on being the best man for the job, he talked about his plans for education, infrastructure development and repair of roads,focus on primary health care development, health insurance for all Edo citizens to cut down maternal and neonatal mortalities and even preventable deaths from malaria sickness due to paucity of funds.
Mr Ulinfun lampooned democratically elected governments for the failure to enact people centric policies since 1999.
He promised to be transparent at governance if elected and work for the good and total welfare of Edo State citizens despite the lack of belief by a segment of society who insist that it is financially risky to have bankers pilot the seat of democratic governance.
