After the initial hiccups with the allocation of portfolios to the 45 ministerial nominees who had been screened and confirmed almost a fortnight ago by the Senate, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu finally bowed to pressure and proceeded to assign ministries to the ministerial nominees.

A breakdown of the portfolio allocation shows that for the first time, the minister-designate for Edo State, Hon. Abubakar Momoh, is heading the Youth Ministry

Indeed, this is the first time under the civilian dispensation that a minister from Edo State will be assigned to the Youth Ministry .

Before now, ministerial appointees of Edo State extraction have headed other ministries such as Information and Culture, Works and Housing, Education and Budget, and National Planning.

Hon. Momoh was a two-term member of the House of Representatives.

With his posting to the youth Ministry, Hon. Momoh is expected to bring his wealth of experience garnered from dealing with various youth groups in the course of his political and professional career to bear in formulating a workable Youth policy for Nigeria.

Many Edos expressed the hope that Hon. Momoh will shine like a million stars, adding his record of performance as a lawmaker is irrefutable
