By DADA AYOKHAI

Six Permanent Secretaries in the employment of the Edo State government have been compulsorily pulled out of the state civil service .

Recall, The governor recently sworn in and assigned new permanent secretaries to different ministries, departments and agencies (MDAs).

Among those affected by the “gale of retirement” sweeping across the Permanent Secretary cadre is Mrs. Sabina Chikere said to be the sister-in-law to the state deputy governor, Hon. Philip Shaibu.

Borderline News24 gathered that the Edo State, Mr. Godwin Obaseki gave his consent before the commencement of the retirement of the Permanent secretaries.

At the commencement of the face-off between the governor and his deputy, Mrs. Chikere was redeployed from the state Sports Ministry and dumped in the central admin office.

Meanwhile, there has been no official word on the retirement of the six PS by the state government .

Borderline News24 further learned that none of the affected PS had any inkling about what was coming their way.

: They were said to have been caught off-guard by their retirement

The state government had, in a bid not to raise any form of suspicion, cleverly sold the dummy about reshuffling the PS cadre.

Hiding under that guise, the state government brought some new people on board and left the six PS unattached to any ministry, thereby paving the way for their eventual retirement

On inquiry as to their new duty station from the Head of Service, they were told their services were no longer required hence should proceed on compulsory retirement.
