SENATE 2023 : OPINION LEADERS ENDORSE OBANOR FOR EDO SOUTH SENATORIAL DISTRICT.

All the elements seem to be falling in place and graciously doing so in favour of Mr. Obanor Imaren as he intensifies his campaigns to represent Edo South senatorial district in the Senate.

Recently, a coalition of opinion leaders that cuts across party lines met and endorsed the candidacy of Mr. Obanor for the Senate.

The coalition, led by Prince Oroboba, said the group has looked at the qualities of the contenders for the seat and found Obanor most worthy, adding they are driven by personality and integrity rather than party.

According to him, the decision of the coalition to throw their weight behind Obanor, who is contesting on the platform of the Nigeria Rescue Movement, NRM, was reached after a careful examination of his background and pedigree, insisting the candidate possesses the right credentials and temperament for the law-making job.

Obanor Imaren is the son of a Palace Chief, Late Chief Hughes Ekhoerutomwen Obanor one time Odionwere Ekaiwe in Benin Kingdom.

Going by the CV of the candidate in circulation, released by one of his media aides, Mr. Godwin Egbe , Obanor started his primary education at St Thomas Catholic School before proceeding to the famous Edo Boys High School, all in Benin. Thereafter, he attended the University of Nigeria, Nsukka, graduating with a B.Sc in Mathematics. He later capped it with a Masters Degree in Public Administration (MPA) from the University of Benin, Edo State.

As a keen sportsman, Obanor’s love for gymnastics has seen him grow into serving the sports he loves the most as a technical official of the Gymnastics Federation of Nigeria, GFN, aside from having represented Nigeria at several international meets

Obanor’s quest for a better society inspired him to study law at the National Open University of Nigeria, NOUN, and went on to serve as the National President of the NOUN chapter of the Law Students Association of Nigeria, LAWSAN.

Obanor’s quest for a better society and good governance is legendary. Linking up with other like-minds felt the compelling need to change the Nigerian narratives,Obanor and his colleagues floated the Nigerian Youths Movement For Good Governance (NYMGG) a pressure group, and later served as its national coordinator.

The candidature of the NRM for the Edo South senatorial seat has caused a stir among the mainstream political parties in the district. However, quite a lot of people have bought into his message of hope and a new beginning thus making him the most popular of the lot jostling for the sole senatorial seat.
