Scout of Nigeria to Honour Prominent Nigerians at maiden Award Ceremony

The Scout Association of Nigeria has concluded plans to hold its maiden awards program tagged “The Nigerian Scout Parade and Presidential Awards NISPPA-2023” where deserving young and adult nigerians would be honoured for their outstanding services to their immediate communities.

The Chief Commissioner and CEO of The Scout Association of Nigeria, Hon Dave Padopads-Awunah disclosed this while speaking during the inauguration of the committee which is saddled with the task of organizing a befitting and successful maiden awards event.

Hon Padopads-Awunah further stressed that the idea of the awards nite, the first of its kind in the annals of the Scout Movement in Nigeria, was the initiative of his administration to improve the lots of scouting in Nigeria in particular and the world in general, adding the show stopper event will hold in Abuja in the early January of 2023

He said the Abuja event will also serve other purposes such as the launching of the new Scout band along with a fully customized kits and other accouterments as well as serve as the launch pad to enable the Nigerian youth to unleash his/her God-given talents in such critical areas of national growth and development as peace and capacity building, networking and synergy building.

Harping on the need for unity in the Nigerian Scout family, Hon Padopads-Awunah said the Association is doing a lot to boost the numerical strength of the Scout body, adding that part of the ambitious plan of the organization is to have a dynamic and progressive Scout Movement that can match the current youth population ratio in the country.

Hinting at the caliber of the personalities expected to grace the Abuja event, Hon Padopads-Awunah named President Muhammad Buhari and the Secretary-General of the World Scout Movement, Mr Ahmad Alhendawi, among those who have already indicated interest to grace the occasion with their presence. Others include top Nigerian government officials, members of the diplomatic community, captains of industries, and the Africa Regional Director of Scout

Urging the committee saddled with the task of organizing the Abuja event not to rest on its oars and to make sure it delivers a first-of-its-kind awards nite,.

Hon Padopads-Awunah warned that the Association will not hesitate to replace any member of the committee who would fall short of expectations, adding that the Association went to great lengths to select the committee members to avail all parts of the country a sense of belonging.
