The sudden sack of Alhaji Imonofi Inusa, the Chief of Staff (CoS) to the Edo State deputy governor, Hon Philip Shaibu, is causing some ripples in Etsako west politics, especially among the South Ibie people who see the sacking of their son as an extreme case of victimization .
Already, reactions among the South Ibie’s over the abrupt sacking of Alhaji Inusa have been mixed even though no reason has been given for his sudden sack
Alhaji Inusa, the former CoS, hailed from South Ibie, Etsako West council area, the same local government as his principal
He was appointed on July 1st 2022 as the CoS shortly after serving his tenure as the chairman of the Etsako West council area.
The news of his replacement, though coming as a shock to political watchers in the state, was announced by the Chief Press Secretary to the deputy governor, Comrade Ebomhiana Musa. No reason(s) was given for the action.
The announcement also named a replacement for the sacked CoS. He is Hon Kingsley Ighiamusor, who was the former occupant of the office.
He was the first CoS to Hon. Shaibu when the latter was sworn in as the deputy governor and was later replaced by Hon Jimoh Ijegbai who left to contest for an elective position and, sadly, lost. Hon Ighiamusor is from Esan in Edo South senatorial district
The sacked Alhaji Inusa replaced Hon Ijegbai.
Pundits have however tried to offer some convincing reasons for the sack of the South Ibie-born CoS. They have attributed it to the poor results the ruling PDP obtained in the area during the just concluded elections.
Others have linked the sack to the inability of the former CoS to properly cope with the dictates of his office
However, the consensus is that although the deputy governor is at liberty to hire and fire his aides, he ought to have exercised some restraint because the sudden sack of Alhaji Inusa may potentially rupture the existing cordial political relationship between him and the good people of South Ibie
