Olokpe of Okpe Condoles, Congratulates King Charles lll on Ascension to Throne

The Olokpe of the Okpe Kingdom, Oba Okhishimede Eshimokhai Idogu III (OON), has despatched a condolence message to the British royal family to commiserate with the British people on the death of their monarch, Queen Elizabeth II

The Queen’s mother died penultimate week in her sleep at the Balmoral Castle at the age of 96, after 70 years on the throne as one of the longest-serving British monarchs in modern history

The news of her death sent shock waves across the globe. Legion of mourners has expressed their grief and shock about the demise of the Queen, describing her 70-year reign as one of the “best moments in British history”, adding she will be most remembered as a bold and dogged fighter who tenaciously defended the monarchy and the Integrity of the members of the royal family, even in the face of the series of scandals the institution encountered along the line.

In his message of condolence to King Charles III, Oba Eshimokhai, also one of the most revered traditional rulers in Akoko Edo local government in Edo North, extolled the virtues of the Queen mother and also expressed his admiration for the seamless transition of power that has taken place, leading to the ascension of King Charles III, insisting the world has a lot to learn from the British

King Charles III, 73, is the first son of late Queen Elizabeth II. He has immediately been proclaimed as the next successor to the throne, even as he eagerly awaits his formal coronation once the final rites of passage are concluded for the Queen’s mother

He also congratulated King Charles III on his ascension to the British throne, maintaining the new king enjoys a good measure of goodwill across the United Kingdom, including members of the royal family, and, therefore, hopes his reign unifies the entire kingdom and ushers in prosperity to the people

While reposing implicit confidence in the ability of King Charles III to steer the affairs of the kingdom, based on the well-established British tradition and heritage, Oba Eshimokhai also assured him of the support and prayers of the people of Okpe kingdom in his new assignment.

In particular, Oba Eshimokhai noted that he looks forward to a more robust and cordial relationship between the two kingdoms, that is, Buckingham Palace and his kingdom, and pledged to explore ways of closer collaboration between the two kingdoms
