The Edo state Governor, Mr Godwin Obaseki approved the appointment of Special Advisers to oversee the eleven federal constituencies in Edo State .

The Secretary to the Edo State Government (SSG), Osarodion Ogie Esq announced the appointments via a statement but was, however, silent on the date the new appointees would be sworn -in.

The names of the Special Advisers as pertaining to the Edo North senatorial district, as well as the federal constituencies they will be representing are captured in brackets: Hon. Sedenu Ayuba, from South Ibie, Etsako West LGA (Etsako federal constituency); Hon. Philomena Balogun (Akoko Edo federal constituency); and, Hon. Abu Abdullahi (Owan federal constituency);

The newly appointed SA’s are expected to oversee the affairs of their respective constituencies. They are like political foot soldiers traversing the nooks and crannies of their locality to protect the political interest of their master and also act as liaison officers monitoring the political dynamics of their immediate bases as well as reporting directly to the governor about any threats and opportunities.

In addition, their appointment is crucial given the intent of the governor to choose his successor.

The SA’s are, therefore, expected to galvanize grassroots support for whoever the governor may anoint as his successor.

The other appointees are: Kenneth Edebiri, Orhionmwon/Uhunmwode; Osagie Ekunwe Melody, Egor/Ikpoba-Okha Federal Constituencies.

“Others are: Victor Enoghama, Oredo; Mr. Kelvin Obarogie, Ovia South West/Ovia North East; Mr. Patrick Iluobe, Esan North-East/Esan South- East, and Mrs. Herberta Ayu, Esan Central/West/Igueben Federal Constituencies.”
