Oba Danesi of South Ibie Petitions Police over Unlawful use of HRH title by Inusa Umoru

The Aidonogie of South Ibie kingdom, Etsako West local government, Oba Kevin Danesi has petitioned the Edo state police commissioner over Unlawful use of the royal title, His Royal Highness, HRH , by Prince Umoru Inusa Umoru.

Prince Inusa Umoru was a contender to the South Ibie royal stool.

In a letter addressed to the Edo state commissioner of police by the chamber of Mokidi and Co on behalf of the monarch, titled” Unlawful assumption of the traditional ruler title of Aidonogie of South ibie by Umoru Inusa contrary to section 20(6) of the Traditional rulers and chiefs edit of Edo state”.

According to the petition, Mr Umoru had in a printed invitation cards and fliers to mark his birthday used the royal title, His Royal highness, HRH, Aidonogie 11 of South lbie.

A title which does not in anyway has the approval of the Edo state Executive council.

The conduct of Mr Inusa Umoru according to the petition contravenes section 20(6)b of the traditional rulers and chiefs of Law of 1979 which states thus:” Any person who not being a traditional ruler assumes any traditional ruler title or any title purporting same to be a traditional ruler within any local government area shall be guilty of an offence and shall be liable on conviction to imprisonment for two years without option of fine.”

Moreover, the Umoru’s supporters were also accused of parading him on social media platforms as His Royal highness, the Aidonogie of South Ibie 11

The petitioner appeal to the police not only to bring the culprit to book but also investigate the matter which they said can led to breach of peace in the kingdom.
