The hopes of Comrade Adams Oshiomole to become a Senator via the ballot box may be dash as the plot to “disqualify” him using the Court thickens.
Emerging facts indicates that the Edo state government through a proxy are laying ambush on plans that may completely jeopadise his chances of picking the Edo North senatorial seat.
The former APC National Chairman lost his exalted office to high wired political intrigues when he got suspended by his political ward in Etsako West Local Government during his supremacy battle between him and governor Godwin. Obaseki
The suspension was alleged to have been orchestrated by the ward’s chairman who was acting as a proxy to the state government.
Oshiomole is presently the leading contender for the Edo North senatorial seat on the platform of the APC.
Finding revealed that the plan was to approach the Court through a proxy and resurrated the certificate and perjury case, he (Oshiomhole) was earlier discharged when he was the governor of Edo State so as to ensure that his name would not be on the ballot paper for the election.
Recall that the certificate saga first reared its ugly head after he won the election for his second term in office as Edo governor. One of his then opponents rushed to the Election Petition Tribunal seeking to nullify the comrade governor’s election as governor on account of not having a valid primary six certificate and lied on oat.
The Tribunal, however, let the comrade governor off the hook on technical grounds and was silent on the charges which bordered on not having valid primary and secondary school certificates.
The certificate case it was learnt is what the Edo state government want to “resurect” at the Federal High Court in Benin, using an Etsako indigene.
The planned suit to be instituted against the former comrade governor seeks to challenge the authenticity of both his primary and secondary school certificates as presented to INEC.
Also, the primary school certificate presented by the former comrade governor is said to be inconsistent with his age, an offence that borders on perjury, if found to be true.
The essence of the plot is to have Oshiomhole disqualified and pave the way for the PDP candidate to either win unopposed or, better still, have an easy ride to victory.
A date is yet to be fixed for the hearing of the case but if the feelers making the rounds within the Edo North political circle are anything to go by, there are more hurdles the former comrade governor may have to navigate through to reach the promised land, depending on his dexterity and adeptness in surmounting obstacles.
