The prospect of Barr. Asue Ighodalo emerging as the “anointed” PDP guber candidate looks like a fait accompli if the result of the PDP Ward Congress held across Edo State yesterday 10th February is anything to go by .
Asue Ighodalo’s allies, henchmen, and core supporters were the biggest winners of the day at the PDP National delegates election held across the 17 LGAs of the state.
In the Edo North senatorial district, it was a roller coaster ride to the podium for the likes of Senator Yisa Braimoh, Hon. Abolagba Johnson, Hon. Gowon Jerry, Sen. Francis Alimikhena and Chief Dania as they emerged as national delegates to the guber primary
The Edo North district is recorded as the first senatorial zone to adopt Asue Ighodalo and Edo Central as the rightful zone to produce the next governor of Edo State
Led by such tenacious leaders like Chief Mike Oghiadomhe, a former two-term deputy governor of the state and Senator Yisa Braimoh , the Edo North district chose to rewrite history on the side of equity and justice instead of primordial sentiments.
Likewise, in the Edo South, PDP heavyweights like Odion Olaye, Edo State NLC State Chairman; Osaro Idah, Charles Igbinedion, and Chris Agbonwanegbe, all known allies of Asue Igjodalo also scaled through as national delegates
In Edo Central, which happens to be the Senatorial district of Asue Ighodalo, former Foreign Affairs minister, Chief Tom Ikimi, Senator Clifford Ordia emerged as delegates.
The Deputy Governor of Delta State and Chairman of the Edo State National Delegate Electoral Committee, Sir Monday Onyeme, has commended the conduct of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) National delegates election which held across the State’s 17 local councils, noting that the process was very peaceful, transparent and credible.
it appears as if the die is now cast, and Asue Ighodalo is looking like the sure bet for the PDP guber ticket waiting for opponents from the two major political parties.
