I waited 19 years to become clan Head of Anwain due to litigations- Ooare

The newly installed clan Head of Anwain clan in Etsako west LGA,Alhaji Muftairu Oare said he has to wait for 19 years due to litigations for him to ascend the throne.

The Royal father made the statement in his address at the coronation ceremony in Idegun when he was formally presented staff of office by the Edo state government.

who ruled the clan from 1980 to 2006.
when some Village heads in the Clan went to court to Challenge the Edo State government not to recognize him as the new Clan head.

The litigation had moved from one court to the other until December, 21, 2023 when a High Court presided over by Justice Emmanuel Ahamioje finally threw out the case for lack of merit.

He continued “the governor’s presence at Idegun today marks the glorious end of the titanic court battles that have been raging in the Clan between me, the Clan head and my adversaries for years.

“Your Excellency, Sir, my father died on the 15th of April, 2006, before I could complete the burial ceremonies of my late father, my hitherto adversaries who had made things very difficult for my father, went to court to foreclose any possible attempt to inform the government of the death of my father and possible request for my installation as the successor.

“Immediately they heard that the whole burial ceremonies had been completed and formally installed as the village head and prospective clan head of Anwain, they went to court.”

Gov. Godwin Obaseki while presenting the new Clan head the staff of office said, the historic event was the climax of the series of traditional ceremonies to mark the ascension to the revered throne of Anwain by HRH Mufutairu Oare.

Gov. Obaseki who was represented by Mr Monday Osaigbovo, the state Commissioner for Local Government, Community and Chieftaincy Affairs said, the presentation of the staff of office was the climax of the series of traditional ceremonies to mark the ascension to the revered throne of Anwain by HRH Mufutairu Oare.

The governor however appealed to the community to ensure that all hands are on deck to bring about the much-needed progress and development of Anwain Community in line with the vision, programme and policy of the state government.
