Enogie of Ihovbor urges Public to Disregard Purported change of community’s name

The Enogie of Evboeka and Ihovbor Evboeka community, in . Uhunmode Local government area of Edo state, HRH Fortune Igbinakenzua, has urged the general public having any form of dealing with the community to disregard the purported change of name of the community from Evboeka camp in Ihovbor to Oyemwen community.

The Enogie of Ihovbor, who gave the notification through a signed public notice accused some individuals and persons of embarking and making arrangements to change the name of Evboeka camp in Ihovbor to Oyemwen community without the consent of the prescribed authority including the Oba of Benin.

The public notice also noted that there was a similar move in 2012 which was published in the Nigerian Obsever of Friday, 9 November, 2012 adding that a letter was written to the Commissioner for Information and Orientation dated 4 November, 2012 conveying the disapproval of the Enogie to any type of change and urged the public to disregard any change of name from Evboeka to Oyemwen.

The Enogie then warned the general public to be weary of the antics of the people behind the supposed change of name as any dealing with such people will be at the person’s risk.
