The 11th Quadrennial State Delegates Conference of the National Union of Local Government Employees NULGE has ended at Sabongida-Ora where it climaxed with the election of Comrade Daodu Clifford as the president of the Union for the next four years.
Declaring the business session cum ceremony open, the President- General of NULGE in Nigeria, Comrade Akeem Olatunji Ambali supported by other national officers enjoined delegates to conduct themselves peacefully.
“This is our Union and we should all know that we are of one family. Elections may seem to divide us because it is a contest but we should always remember that the struggle is to librate our people, the workers. So, I enjoined whosoever will emerge as elected, today, never to see himself as an emperor but a servant of the people.
Comrade Akeem Olatunji Ambali also commended the outgoing leadership headed by Comrade Lazarus Adorolo whom he said has served the union and his people diligently during his tenor as president, Edo NULGE.
At the commencement of the election, the chief returning officer, a former President NULGE, Edo State and former NLC Chairman, Edo State, Comrade Anthony Kaduna Eboigbodin enjoined accredited delegates and contestants to conduct themselves in a manner in line with the Union’s constitution.
At the end of the of the keenly contested and peaceful election, Comrade Clifford Daodu emerged the President, defeating three other contestants and having garnered the highest number of total votes cast.
While declaring the result of the election, the accredited returning officer, Comrade Anthony Kaduna Eboogbodin commended the delegates for their peaceful disposition during the process of the election.
The newly elected Comrade Daudu Clifford-led exco is expected to be sworn in later in September to pilot the affairs of the Union in the the next four years.
