In the words of Matthew Henry, a renowned theologian and critical writer, ”It is not fit that the public trusts should be lodged in the hands of any, till they are first proved and found fit for the business they are to be entrusted with.” This is clearly the case in the proven capacity of Senator Adams Oshiomhole who has demonstrated an enviable sterling record of performance in all leadership positions he has held. From a factory worker to a labour unionist and pro-democracy activist, from Executive governor to National Party leadership and now a Distinguished Senator.
Comrade Adams Oshiomhole has exemplified himself as a trusted pan-Afemai that is trusted, dependable and reliable. Little does one wonder that in the era of his leadership of the Nigerian Labour Congress, NLC, he was simply and frankly referred as the People’s President.
Indeed, just as Comrade Adams Oshiomhole unarguably made Afemai proud and remains till date, the reference point of progressive governance in Edo State, he has also ensured that the voice of Afemai is eloquently reverberating very loud and clear in the Red Chambers.
Apart from his sterling performance in terms of effective and quality representation, Senator Adams Oshiomhole has always offered his voice distinctively to the admiration of everyone that knows about mental intelligence. His voice is not just about the audibility and effectiveness of the elements of his vocal track, but the embodiment of his spontaneous display of unparalleled intelligence and superfluous oratory prowess.
Indeed, the juxtaposition of such uncommon traits with the undoubted evidence of his performance and his unquenchable desire for further growth, development and enhancement of Afemai have indisputably put him wide ahead of all other political Lilliputian senatorial candidates.
It is pitiable and laughable to see little known mushroom political parties, in attempts to challenge Senator Oshiomhole, they are parading candidates without traceable records of performance in public and private service but mere elementary political characters who may have just woken up from a life of ignoble indolence, uncharted obscurity, embarrassing inexposure but equipped with detestable jealousy.
Clearly, the forthcoming election is very critical and crucial to the continuous progress and development of Edo North. Afemai must therefore arise wisely, ignore the cacophonous rabble of few detractors and re-elect Senator Adams Oshiomhole, a man who is nationally acclaimed as a man of the people and for the people by virtue of his records of performance, a lionically bold pan Afemai, an unmatchable critical thinker with a great vocal dexterity, a highly connected political lobbyist, an idealistically pragmatic and competent Afemai.
Without any iota of doubt, Comrade Adams Oshiomhole has been tested and has become an unreservedly trusted Afemai. As the cap perfectly fits him, let him continue to adorn it.
