The Edo State Consumer Protection Committee has solicited the support of the Edo Broadcasting Service, EBS, to ensure regular public sensitization ahead of the commencement of statewide operations, enforcement of consumer rights, market inspections, and upholding of standards.
The Management Committee of the Edo State Consumer Protection Committee, led by its Chairman, Mr. Osaro Iyamu Culture, made the appeal during a courtesy visit to the Management of EBS in Benin City.
Speaking during the visit, Mr. Iyamu Culture said the Committee is committed to protecting consumers from exploitation, substandard products, and unfair market practices across the 18 Local Government Areas of Edo State.
He therefore requested the support of the Management of EBS for the regular media coverage of the Committee’s activities, programs, and engagements, both before and during enforcement operations.
The Committee affirmed its readiness to work closely with the Office of the Managing Director and EBS as a whole, while providing all relevant information to ensure a seamless partnership.
In his response, the Managing Director of EBS, Mr. Festus Alenkhe, assured the Committee of 100% support for its activities and programs.
He also advised the Committee to prioritize saving consumers from counterfeit products and exploitation by the private sector.
