The North Ivie political axis in Etsako East Local Government Area has urged the member representing Etsako East at the Edo State House of Assembly, Hon. Kingsley Ugabi, to halt his bid for a fourth term in office in the spirit of the local government’s zoning arrangement.
Hon. Ugabi’s of the All Progressive Congress, APC has been representing Etsako East State Constituency in the Edo State House of Assembly since 2015
His recent intention for continuity has sparked concern among stakeholders in the area, who feel he is asking for too much by seeking a fourth term.
According to political analyst, Alhaji Sule Abass, Etsako East LGA comprises three blocs: Agenebode, Okpella, and North Ivie.
He noted that the Agenebode axis recently produced the Council Chairman, while Okpella currently holds two commissioner slots, leaving North Ivie without a major position.
The North Ivie axis further argued that before Hon. Ugabi emerged as lawmaker, the Agenebode axis had the late Peter Aliu, who spent two terms in the House. In total, the Agenebode axis has held the Assembly seat from 2007 to date.
To underscore the seriousness of their agitation, about three aspirants from North Ivie have already indicated interest in the race.
