Benin City, Edo State capital was at a standstill today when the candidate representing Oredo East Constituency in the 2023 general election for the Edo State House of Assembly, on the platform of the All Progressives Congress, (APC), Barr. Raphael Usuomon visited Oba Market, New Benin Market, Ekiuwa Market, Oliha Market and others.
The reception was overwhelming in all the markets visited as they all left their wares to listen to the man of the moment, Barr. Raphael Usuomon who took time to give them reasons why he want to represent them at the Edo State House of Assembly and also why they should give him all the support he needed to win the election, so that he can give them a qualitative, efficient and purposeful representation.
At the Oba Market, the leader of the market, Madam Yemisi Omoregie who spoke on behalf of other market women described Barr. Raphael Usuomon as someone they can trust having listen him carefully and assured him of their support for him in the coming election.
According to Madam Omoregie, “We see your coming to the market to see us as a sign of respect for the women folks. We will also reciprocate the gesture by assisting you to mobilise the women in the market to enable you get all the necessary support to win the election.
Barr. Usuomon had earlier told the market women in Oredo East constituency that he was going to give them a purposeful representation at the Edo State House of Assembly. He added that he was quite aware of their plight as a woman and promised to give all the needed support to them to boost their businesses if elected.
“If elected I will always made myself available to you in order to know your pains and your feelings and therefore I will know what to do for you. This show of love from you today Will propelled me to perform my legislative business diligently. I want to assure you that i will not disappoint my Constituecy if given the Mandate to serve”.
At Oliha market Usuomon went down memory Lane and told the market women how his mother used to sell in that market and described his visit to the market as home coming. He added that his aspiration to go to legislative Chamber should not only be his fight but that of everyone. He said what he saw at the Oba market today was a sorry state and therefore need the support of all to change the situation.
“We are coming in to change the narrative and to correct the ills brought to the state by Gov. Godwin Obaseki. Vote for me and vote for APC to get the dividends of democracy”.
In all the market visited the women described him as a popularly candidate who does not need much introduction and declared that they have confidence him to deliver if elected.
Highlight of the visit was a special prayers for Barr. Raphael Usuomon from the women in all the markets visited.
