An FCT High Court sitting in Abuja has delivered judgment in favour of Senator Yisa Braimoh in a defamation and slander suit instituted against the factional Publicity Secretary of the Edo State PDP, Omobunde Bob-Manuel, aka “Jesus Army,” and Mr. Osilama Okuofu, former Edo State Commissioner for Finance.
Senator Braimoh filed Suit No. FCT/HC/FT/CV/1381/2024, demanding N5 billion in damages for defamatory statements published against him and family members .
Delivering judgment, Hon. Justice J.O. Adeyemi Ajayi granted N100 million in damages to the claimant. The court also issued an injunction restraining the defendants from further publication of defamatory contents .
Other orders include a public retraction and apology on the platforms where the statements were published, as well as in two national dailies.
The court further awarded N2 million as a cost of action, with 8% interest on the judgment sum from the date of judgment until full payment.
Heaving a sigh of relief after the judgement , Senator Yisa Braimoh retorted that elements like “Jesus Army ” and Osilama Okuofu needed to be taught a bitter lesson and that he was fulfilled with the well considered judgement .
