The disastrous activities of herdsmen which many assumed is over resurfaced recently in oben community in Orhionmwon local government area of Edo state.
It was alleged that hoodlums suspected to be armed herdsmen invaded the Iguelaba/ Oben Community, on Friday 8th of September, 2023 shooting sporadically hitting in the process, the convoy of vehicles plying the Iguelaba/ Jesse express way.
The two persons were allegedly killed with many severely injured during the shooting.
As a way of empathy with the Oben community, the Member Representing Orhionmwon South Constituency in Edo State House of Assembly, Hon. Bright Iyamu paid a condolence visit to victim’s family.
Hon Iyamu was accompanied on the condolence visit by the Councillor Representing Ugu Ward Nine, in Orhionmwon, Hon. Goodluck Osama Ogbeide, the Permanent Secretary of Edo State House Of Assembly Commission, Barr. Osahon Ahunwa, The Councillor Representing Evboesi Ward, Hon. Julius Aghariaha and other notable PDP leaders.
The Honourable while addressing sympathizes at the deceased family house said with the recent development in the oben community, the security agencies will be directed to also beem their search light on the community environs along with others to prevent a reoccurrence of the horrible situation in line with the state government directives in curtailing insecurity in the state.
Hon Iyamu as way of providing succor to the bereaved family said “I know it’s painful, I pray for God to grant you the fortitude to bear the irreparable loss. For your business and the academic pursuit for your children, I will do my best to support your family”.
Speaking on behalf of the family, the elder brother to the deceased, Mr. Kenneth Oriakhi expressed appreciation to the Hon. member, representing Orhionmwon South Constituency, Hon. Bright Iyamu and his entourage for the show of love.
The deceased, Mr. Friday Oriakhi is survived by Wife, and Seven Children.
