Edo State Commissioner of Trade, Industry and Cooperatives, the indomitable Hon . Afie Braimoh, has been shortlisted as a keynote speaker at the Webinar Conference on Cooperatives

Her selection by the event organizers does not come as a surprise given her uncommon zeal and drive to popularise the cooperative movement and her resolve to ensure it becomes the fulcrum for wealth creation

The organizers, the African Prudential, are hoping to tap into her rich reservoir and expertise to reposition the cooperative movement in the country

Formerly African Prudential Registrars, the company recently re-engineered and changed its name to African Prudential.

The conference is part of an ongoing CSR initiated by the company to help strengthen cooperative movements in an evolving economy

The theme of the conference is: “Leveraging to drive Financial Inclusion and Wealth through Cooperatives”.

African Prudential is a foremost indigenous player as a solution provider. The company has carved a niche for its ability to leverage on technology to provide world-class financial, investment and wealth creation services to diverse clients in both the public and private sectors of the economy

A panel of four resource persons, drawn from related fields will direct discussions and ensure the papers delivered at the conference were properly dissected.

One of the panelists, a senior police officer, Mr. Alliu Giwa, is a seasoned cooperative expert and coincidentally the public relations officer of the Police Cooperative Society.

The conference is coming on the heels of the 100th anniversary of the cooperative movement, which was marked between July 2nd and the 3rd.

In Edo State, the state government made a showpiece of the World Cooperative Day, with the governor, Mr. Godwin Obaseki having a rare public engagement with the people during which he highlighted the various steps taken by his administration to reform and rejuvenate the cooperative movement in the state

Also, Hon Braimoh’s ministry lined up a series of events to mark the anniversary, including an interface between policymakers and stakeholders on ways to ” break the barriers and expand the horizon” of the cooperative movement
