The Vice President Kashim Shettima, on Wednesday February 28 in Abuja, the federal capital territory, inaugurated the reconstituted board of the National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON)

The swearing-in ceremony for the new members of the Commission took place at the State House, Aso Rock Villa, Abuja, during which Vice President Shettima urged the new members to synergize and bring fresh attitudes and perspectives to the operations of the Commission.

Among the members of the newly inaugurated NAHCON board is Auchi-born Alhaji Aliu Abdulrazak.

Abdulrazak is to serve as the National Commissioner in charge of Finance and Operations.

Ironically, this is not the first time the sacred kingdom of Auchi, a well-known citadel of Islamic civilization and study in the South-South geo-political zone would feature prominently in the affairs of NAHCON .

The dissolved NAHCON board inaugurated by former President Muhammad Buhari had Alhaji Prince Suleiman Momoh as commissioner in charge of planning, Research, Statistics information and library services.

Repeatedly, Auchi indigenes have managed to maintain membership of the Commission under two different administrations .

On the composition of the board, Vice President Shettima reminded the members that President Tinubu was deliberate in choosing them to reflect national diversity and the infusion of fresh perspectives in the handling of the affairs of the Commission.

He said, “Mr. Presided deliberately picked people into the NAHCON board based on their diverse backgrounds and unblemished past so that they can bring fresh perspectives and innovations to Hajj operations in Nigeria and also help to interrogate management as well as bring out the best from the staff”.

The National Hajj Commission of Nigeria is the statutory body responsible for Hajj-related affairs in Nigeria
