Aruna Braimoh to vie for Edo Governorship seat on Labour party platform

A prominent Edo North son, Aruna Braimoh is set to join the growing list of those interested in contesting the 2024 Edo guber election

The Harvard University trained finance guru and also an alumni of the prestigious Lagos Business School (LBS) intends to actualize his ambition of governing Edo State under the Labour Party platform.

A few days ago, a former President of the Nigeria Bar Association (NBA), Mr. Olumide Akpata declared his interest in the Edo 2024 guber race under the Labour Party umbrella .

As it stands now, the Labour Party in Edo State parades the majority of those aspiring to take over from the incumbent whose tenure expires sometime in 2024

The other two dominant political parties in the state, the APC and the PDP, are embroiled in the theatrics of which senatorial zone should produce the next governor.

Before now, Aruna was relatively unknown in Edo politics. He operated largely in the financial sector where he enjoyed mammoth success and also built a niche as a hardcore professional in change management and financial re-engineering

The latest declaration for the coveted number one seat in the state signposts the possibility of a dark horse springing a surprise during the party primary .

Aruna anchored his ambition on the popular maxim that “change first begins with one before trickling down”

Describing himself as “self-motivated” and driven by the need to “cause a positive societal change” in the life of the people, He insisted that the time is ripe for those with the humane touch and requisite capacity to take charge so that the charlatans can be shown the way out of governance, stressing also that it is time for the people to take their destiny in their hands.

On his reason for choosing the LP, he stated, “I can tell you for free that the PDP and the APC have failed Edo people, leaving them poorer and sickly. The people desire a change for the better. They are throwing away the broom and the umbrella because these symbols represent all that is dark and repugnant in the lives of the people.

“The LP is the party of the moment, it has come to rescue the Edo people. The symbol of the party is all-inclusive and family-oriented and that is why everywhere you go today in the state people are embracing the LP”

A hopeful Aruna said his training, experience, and professional exposure garnered over the years in top management positions in multiple disciplines such as accounting, financing, taxation, treasury, investment banking, as well as the oil and gas sector, in both the public and private sectors of the Nigerian economy, spanning several decades of quality and meritorious service, has prepared him for the task of governance.

He promised to pursue a transparent and all-inclusive government if elected
