Agba makes mockery of Edo deputy Governor over dilapidated Jattu market.

By DADA AYOKHAI

In what seems like a well-coughed mockery of the very poor state of the popular Jattu market in Uzairue, in Etsako West Local Government Area of Edo State, the Honourable minister of State budget and National Planning, Prince Clem Agba, has offered to help reconstruct the market.

Jattu market is located at the hometown of the state deputy governor, comrade Philip Shaibu.

Agba who lamented the deplorable state of the market noted that it needs urgent attention before its market goes into total deterioration.

He added his ministry has decided to intervene to make sure the Jattu market does not lose its status and as a result, a provisional amount of money have been included in the 2023 budget for rehabilitation work.

He noted that “since those who ought to salvage the situation have chosen to look elsewhere, the federal government has taken it upon itself to lead the way.

The Uzanu Prince made the disclosure at his country home at Uzanu community in Etsako East local government area during the yuletide when played host to both his kinsmen and political associates who converged on his palatial country home to pay him the usual Christmas/New Year solidarity visit.

The minister, who used the occasion to launch his diatribes on the Edo State deputy governor, Hon Shaibu, however, listed some of the remedial works to be carried out in the market to include the provision of a functional water supply system and/or borehole.

Others are a modern toilet facility, and also an erosion control measure to ensure the Jattu market remodeling work is both durable as well as sustainable.

Invariably, the comments are meant to prick the conscience of Hon Shaibu one who could not even reconstruct the popular Jattu market where he hails from which happens to be the largest weekly market in the entire Edo North district.

This is, however, the first time in recent times that Prince Agba, the soft-spoken and well-respected Uzanu-born, Etsako East, APC stalwart will be throwing brickbats.
