*BENIN CITY* – Prince Braimoh Musa, an Edo North senatorial aspirant under the African Democratic Congress, ADC, has passed the party’s screening exercise, clearing him to contest in the upcoming primaries scheduled for a later date.
The screening, held in Benin City, was supervised by ADC officials from Abuja.
Musa, from the Uzairue clan in Etsako West LGA, is expected to emerge as the party’s unopposed candidate after other aspirants reportedly stepped down to back his bid.
Speaking to journalists after the exercise, an elated Musa said: “The screening process was smooth, and the committee members were experienced professionals. After reviewing my academic credentials and asking questions about my strategy to win, which I won’t disclose so as not to give opponents an edge, I was asked to take a bow. We then took photographs together.”
With Musa and Sen. Adams Oshiomhole already emerging on the ADC and APC platforms respectively, the Edo North senatorial race appears set to become an Etsako affair.
The Nigeria Democratic Congress, NDC, and the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, have yet to announce their candidates but must do so before May 30 in line with INEC guidelines.
Musa said he would bring a different approach to legislative work, focusing on laws that directly impact the people and strengthen the Nigerian economy. He added that while constituency projects are not primarily the role of lawmakers, an effective senator can attract projects to the district through lobbying.
National Assembly elections are scheduled for January 2027.
