Abubakar Momoh, the 4th minister to emerge from Etsako East LGA

The recent appointment of Hon. Abubakar Momoh by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu as the substantive minister of the Niger Delta ministry makes him the 4th minister to emerged from Etsako East local government area of Edo state.

In terms of ministerial allocations, Etsako East LGA is leading the rest in Edo state? . In a space of three decades and more, the hilly local government has produced four ministers.

The first personality to emerged as a minister occurred during the military contraption called the Interim National Government (ING), headed by the corporate board room mogul, the late Chief Ernest Shonekan in 1993.

He is Abraham Inanoya Imogie, from Okpella axis of the local government. He was appointed as the Secretary of Education, which was the nomenclature prevalent then.

Again, another minister emerged from the Agenebode axis of the local government with the appointment of an Air Force officer, the late Air Commodore Anthony Ikhazobor by the Ibrahim Babangida Administration between 1985 and 1993.

The Late Ikhazobor served as the Minister of Sports and later Transport

Former President Buhari also put an icing on the Etsako East cake. In his case, he looked towards the Uzanu axis to pick an oil and gas expert in the person of Prince Clem Agba. The Uzanu Prince was made a junior minister in the Ministry of Budget and National Planning ,2019 _ 2023.

Hon Abubakar Momoh, the incumbent Minister of Niger Delta is from Imiegba in three Ivie clan in Etsako East.

Hon Momoh has occupied various elected political positions, starting first as a ward councillor to being a local government chairman, a lawmaker in the state assembly and later crowned with his election as a two-term member of the House of Representatives representing the Etsako federal constituency,.
