The Edo State Government has restated its commitment to advancing the welfare and empowerment of women and vulnerable groups.
The assurance followed a courtesy visit by members of the City Boys Movement, Women Wing, to the Ministry of Women Affairs and Social Development.
Speaking during the visit, the group’s Edo State Women Leader, Barr. Nana Audu, said the Women Wing is actively supporting women and youths through empowerment initiatives, outreach programmes, and advocacy.
Also addressing the Ministry, the Zonal Women Leader for the South-South Zone, Mrs. Helen Omorodion, emphasized the group’s role in promoting civic responsibility, particularly through voter education programmes conducted across the state. She noted that the movement remains committed to grassroots engagement aimed at improving participation in governance and socio-economic development.
In her response, the Edo State Commissioner for Women Affairs and Social Development, Hon. Eugenia Abdallah, commended the group for its proactive efforts in empowering women and youths. She described the visit as a welcome development and an opportunity for collaboration in advancing the Ministry’s mandate.
The Commissioner reaffirmed the state government’s dedication to creating inclusive policies and programmes that support women, children, and other vulnerable groups. She further encouraged the group to sustain its advocacy and community-based initiatives, assuring them of the Ministry’s readiness to partner with organizations that share similar goals.
The visit reinforced the importance of synergy between government and civil support groups in driving sustainable development and improving the lives of citizens across Edo State.
