Afegbua Accuses Minister Momoh of “Playing God” in Etsako East APC

Edo Information Commissioner Prince Kassim Afegbua has accused Minister of Regional Planning Abubakar Momoh of “playing god” over APC affairs in native Etsako East LGA where he hails from

Appearing on AIT, programme, Afegbua said Momoh is undermining Governor Monday Okpebholo’s position as party leader by claiming local supremacy, acting on “ministerial ego” and imposing decisions while exploiting the governor’s simplicity.

Afegbua said the minister is creating the impression that Governor Monday Okpebholo lacks authority over APC affairs in Etsako East—despite the governor being the party’s state leader.

He added that after a state congress and deliberations on council primaries, Momoh keeps forwarding lists of favoured councillors under his own signature across the local government.

Afegbua—who also hails from Okpella in the same LGA—stressed the dispute isn’t personal but warned the minister’s conduct could distract the governor if left unchecked.

Momoh’s kinsmen from North Ibie had petitioned the Edo APC chairman, complaining that the minister compiles—and signs—lists of councillors and ward officials as “LGA leader,” insisting they be obeyed. To them, Momoh is positioning himself as the alpha and omega of politics in Etsako East.
