Edo State Commissioner for Women Affairs, Hon Eugenia Aballah, has called on stakeholders to join forces with the government to advance the rights and dignity of women and girls.
The appeal was made in a message commemorating International Women’s Day 2026, themed “Rights, Justice, and Action for All Women and Girls”.
Aballah stated that Edo State, under Governor Senator Monday Okpebholo, remains committed to empowering women socially, economically, and politically.
She highlighted initiatives promoting gender equality, protecting vulnerable groups, and supporting survivors of gender-based violence.
The commissioner emphasized that women’s empowerment drives progress, saying, “When women are empowered, families flourish, communities prosper, and societies progress”
. She urged women and girls to continue inspiring positive change, adding, “Your voices matter, your dreams are valid, and your contributions are essential”
”This year’s theme, “Rights, Justice, and Action for All Women and Girls,” calls on all of us—government, institutions, communities, and individuals to move beyond words and commit to meaningful actions that ensure women and girls enjoy their full rights, equal opportunities, and protection from all forms of discrimination and violence.”
