‎EDO PDP, Okpebholo Exchange Words Over Edo Air

‎The Edo State chapter of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) and the state government are clashing over Governor Monday Okpebholo’s plan to launch Edo Air, the state’s own airline.


‎The PDP, in a statement by state publicity secretary Dan Osa-Ogbegie, Esq., slammed the idea as a “misplaced priority” and proof of a government “profoundly disconnected” from Edo’s pressing issues.


‎The party further claimed the floating an airtime  “At a time when Edo State is grappling with decaying infrastructure, worsening urban conditions, and stalled strategic projects, the idea of establishing an airline is not only unrealistic but profoundly insensitive



‎But the state government, via chief press secretary Dr. Patrick Ebojele,  described  the PDP  ” attacks as short-sighted and counterproductive, arguing that the focus should be on results rather than partisan rhetoric. Edo Air is not a political gimmick; it is a developmental project aimed at benefiting all Edo people. “


‎The Edo Air he said  t’s part of Governor Okpebholo’s “clear vision for economic growth, connectivity, and regional development.”


‎”Edo Air will improve intra-state and inter-state travel, boost tourism, facilitate trade, and attract investors, creating new opportunities and jobs for Edo residents,” the statement read.


‎The PDP further  claimed   the plan is  “unrealistic” and “insensitive” amid Edo’s crumbling infrastructure and urban decay.


‎”Running an airline is capital-intensive, technically demanding, and historically disastrous for most sub-national governments in Nigeria,” they argued.
