A newly formed group, the United Opposition Movement, has called on the leadership of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) and its allied forces to formally adopt a joint presidential ticket for the 2027 elections, featuring their strongest candidates as Presidential and Vice Presidential flagbearers.

The group also emphasized the need to appoint a strong and credible personality as Director General of the campaign.

Speaking at a press conference in Abuja on friday, the group’s spokesperson, Hon. Shadrach Udugbai, urged supporters across opposition camps to avoid polarizing the political space with divisive statements rooted in ethnicity or religion, stressing the importance of unity and national cohesion ahead of the elections.

“The ticket of the ADC should not be ticket of convenience; it should be a ticket of National salvation, it should represent a fusion of experience and energy, of reach and resonance, of North and South. It should be the most formidable combination capable of dismantling the APC’s failing machinery.’

“I repeat, The ADC 2027 Presidential Ticket shouldn’t be a ticket of convenience; it should be a Ticket of National Salvation. Tinubu’s second Tenure can never be better than the first. Because no second tenure in Nigeria is ever better than the first.”

“It is either we kick out this failed administration and enthrone a new era of people centred, people focused and people oriented governance.  Or we wallow in another 4 years of steeper poverty and widespread insecurity.”

‘The ambition of any single individual must be secondary to the urgent need to rescue Nigeria.”
