Tension is escalating in the 3 Ivie Clan over a contentious decision to rename the clan from “3 Ivie” to “Ivie” Clan, sparking concerns about potential breakdown of law and order if the issue isn’t addressed.
It was alleged that a faceless group conveyed a meeting on October 18, 2025, at Mallam Ali Suleiman’s palace, where key resolutions and some administrative changes were discussed amongst is the unilateral name change from 3 Ivie Clan to Ivie Clan also the destignation of the royal father from Ogieaga of 3 Ivie Clan to Ogieaga of Ivie Clan.
Additionally, the meeting also made some critical appointment making Shedrach , the General Youth President of Imiakebu from the Imiakebu-Okpah Community., Mallam Braimah Inusa from Auchi as the Chief Imam of Imiakebu-Okpah Community, presented by the Otaru of Auchi. and Chief Benson Seidu, the Ogwemere of Imiakebu-Okpah Community, retained the office as the chief with authority second only to the Ogieaga. while Sheikh Solahudeen M. H., the former Chief Imam and Mai-Tafsir of Imiakebu-Okpah Community, was officially recognized as Ex-Chief Imam and Ex-Mai-Tafsir of Okpah-Imiakebu.
Imiakhebu Autonomous Village has swiftly responded to the meeting’s outcome, issuing a communique signed by Pastor Prince Ahmadu, Chief of Staff to the Azamanodu III, Okhueghiodeaghia Neshioze.
The village’s leadership has raised concerns about being excluded from the decision-making process regarding the clan’s name change and traditional ruler’s title.
”Imiakebu People Within Three Ibie Federated Clan are opposed the name change of three Ibie name or any Attempt To Collapse The Existing Three Ibies Federated Clan Structures
because the Imiakebu Autonomous village traditional head and all the relevant Stakeholders and the people were not consulted, nor were they present in the purported meeting where the purported communique emanated from.”
Again, they adduced that Ibvie clan is not in existence and it must not be mistaken to be the three Ivies.
”Three Ivies is not just a name out of convenience, but it is the definition of who we are as three independent entities of the same ancestral origin.”
While rejecting all the purported appointments as announced they called on the state governor,Senator Monday Okpebholo, Commissioner for local government and chieftaincy affairs, the Etsako East local government chairman Hon Sonny Ekpetica Ekpeson, the Nigerian police force, the Edo state Attorney general, the Chief Judge of Edo state, DSS, and all other relevant government agencies to quickly look into the matter before it degenerates into chaos.
