The Edo State Police Command has confirmed the rescue of two kidnapped women from Oluoke, Uzairue clan in Etsako West Local Government Area.
Recall that one Friday Pius from Uluoke was killed while his pregnant wife and sister-in-law were kidnapped by suspected herdsmen.
According to the release issued and signed by CSP Moses Joel Yam, the Police Public Relations Officer of the State command said a case of kidnapping of two women was reported at the Divisional Police headquarters at Iyamho.
,The two women were reportedly kidnapped after the shooting of the pregnant woman’s husband in the Oluoke community.
The injured man was later rushed to the hospital, where he was confirmed dead by a medical Doctor on duty.
The release further claimed that in a swift response, the DPO, Anti Kidnapping team stationed at Edo North, and Operation Rescue, along with Vigilantes and Hunters, mobilized and went after the kidnappers.
”The resilience and determination of the operatives led to the rescue of the two (2) women, namely, Esther Friday, 32yrs and Joy Iregbeyen, 23yrs whom the kidnappers abandoned and ran away because of the mounting pressure by the security teams. Unfortunately, the kidnappers shot one of the women in the foot out of frustration, but she is currently responding to treatment.”
