Akoko-Edo local government council has in conjunction with Edo State government commenced treatment , distribution of free eye glasses and cataract surgery in the local government area.
According to the statement issued by Okolo Jonathan Okhavhe,

LGA Chairman Rt Hon Alabi Bliss Oshionogue (AKPAKOMIZA JUNIOR
said the gesture is in line with the shine agenda initiative of the State Governor, Senator Monday Okpebholo in his desire to extend dividends of democracy to the grassroots.
The chairman further noted that the commencement of the programme in Igarra would serve as a prelude to other communities in the locality, noting that Ojah and Ibillo zones would also be captured
Some of the beneficiaries of the programme , Mrs E.B Ojo and some market women commended the state government on his proactive stance, while also applauding the council boss for demonstrating practical governance in his massive development across the local government area.
Also speaking, an Okada rider, Monday Kelvin and others lauded the state government for the medical outreach also prayed for the council chairman.
On her part, a student, Esther David, prayed fervently for the Governor and the council chairman for the initiative, stressing that the move would enhance her reading abilities in class.
Speaking earlier, the logistics Officer, Hon David Elijah as well as the public health consultant Dr Braimoh Emmanuel who represented the state government at the event, disclosed that the state government has put every arrangement in place to have a seamless exercise, explaining that the initiative is taking place simultaneously across the local government areas of Edo state.
