The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) may have declared the APC guber candidate, Sen Monday Okpevbolo, as the winner of the September 21 Edo governorship election, there are, however, concerns about the circumstances surrounding his victory and the role played by INEC officials.

Both the PDP and the LP have raised objections about the election outcome, alleging cases of fraud and other electoral malpractices.

One major complaint is the inflated vote allocation in favour of the APC especially in the Akoko Edo local government area where the party garnered the highest number of votes in the election

The ruling PDP specifically accused INEC staff and security agents of conspiring to manipulate votes in favour of the APC, effectively thwarting the will of the Edo people.

The situation in Akoko Edo Ward 9, unit 11, where the APC allegedly scored 419 votes against the 39 accredited voters, drew national attention.

Edo PDP guber candidate, Bar Asue Ighodalo, voiced his objections about the election conduct, fraud, and abnormalities on a privately owned broadcast outfit, Channel TV.

He also highlighted the high level of fraud and irregularities perpetrated by INEC and security agents against the PDP on national television.

The Edo PDP leadership is presently compiling a list of the alleged atrocities committed against the party during the election.

This is in preparation to go to the Election Tribunal to challenge the result and seek to restore what they believe to be the will of the Edo people.
